Do What You Love...

6.19.05 - 10:26pm

I was thinking today about something my parents always used to tell me. They always said, without ever changing their minds, "Do what you love and the money will come." In other words, throw caution to the wind, follow your dreams, don't worry about paying rent, and all that good stuff...

Looking back, I realize what a blessing it is to have been instilled with such thoughts as a child growing up with a passion for music. And I guess it's that line of thinking that I've been dwelling on lately, what with the culmination of my days as a full-time administrative assistant a mere 14 days away. I'm 'quitting my day job' as they say. Can't wait, to be honest. Time to really see what is out there, and see what I can do when I put my mind to it.

So yeah, if no one's ever told you to do what you love, and worry about all the other bullshit later, consider yourself told. I think it would be good for all of us to follow our hearts once in a while, just to see where we end up.

Enter the Blog

6.2.05 - 11:37am

And so it comes to this... we have finally given in to the Blog.

I'll let you all in on a little secret...I have no idea how or when or why these Blogs have taken over. You know, back in the day, it was one's AOL Instant Messenger profile or away message that defined a person - what you were doing, who you were out with, what cool movie or song quotes you knew (especially the ones that applied to what you were going through with your boyfriend or girlfriend) and you would post them so that most people would just think, "Oh, I know that song. That's a good line." When, in reality, the quote is only meant for one person who you KNOW will read it anyway, so it was really the best passive-aggressive outlet for all the internet-savvy kids who built relationships with each other almost entirely through these technological vehicles in the first place.

Anyway, that's my confession. This is the first Blog I've ever really looked at, let alone created. And so a new era begins for us all.

That being said, I look forward to updating my journals far more frequently, and I hope to see you all very soon.

Summer's coming, and it feels so nice...
